Research is prone to bias. Researcher degrees of freedom, the high number of decisions to be made often after data collection and review have already been completed, significantly contributes to these biases. Preregistering your hypotheses and methods prior to commencing data collection is one powerful method of protection. Steph Suddell and Vanessa Teckentrup, current Post Docs in the Gillan Lab, will be providing a general introduction to preregistration and registered reports. They will discuss advantages and challenges, when to consider a preregistration, share their own experience of preregistering studies with or without peer review at this stage, and provide practical advice for getting started.
